Overall Rating The Hancock Campground is in a good location if you want to visit the Keweenaw Peninsula yet still have city services available. I should also note that we were able to get a few channels on our TV, which was nice!Even with limited winter access, this park is beautiful.In winter, there is only one entrance open into this state park, but we were able to walk to the edge of the shoreline and see the dynamic ice formations and undulating waves of broken ice on Lake Superior. Been there many times. Meanwhile the campsites are absolutely disgusting and there was vomit and human sh*t on the ground when we got here.We stayed at the campground for three nights. They calmed.down in the evening once it got chilly, but otherwise, they were constant. Despite being the only campground open it was quiet even when the campground filled. This is a cash only camping area. The river access was great, though the water was very low. The campground also has flush toilets, which was a big plus, since most other campgrounds in the area only have vault toilets. Thought was to enjoy the sounds of nature, so if you are one of them people, go to a concert instead. We would come back again next summer.Older campground, but very well maintained!!!! Free showers and a convenient laundry room. Spectacular.$15 for tent site.
There are no lights in the bathrooms or anywhere in the campground so make sure to bring flashlights as it gets very dark. The people at the gate were very friendly. The river drowns out most noise from other sites, making this a peaceful and relaxing getaway spot. Own or manage this property? I bought a battery operated air pump on Amazon and was able to inflate 3 queen size mattresses easily. Note, Not a hotel, answers are relative to a camp...We have been camping here for years and it is a lovely place to camp.

It was clean and the access to Lake Superior was wonderful. The sites are fairly private with a decent amount of trees buffering your view of other campers. Close to town and hiking areas.Great camping spot. Why do people bring their sound systems when they go camping? It was big enough to fit our grill, cooler, trash, and bag of groceries. Bathrooms are clean. There are 20 or so tent sites that you have to carry your gear to, about 100 or so yards from the parking area. The price was extremely low and the campsites very nice and wooden. They were near the campsites by the main road; the traffic was loud in this area and the sites didn’t have near boxes, but there were no bees to be found.

This is one of the few White Mountain campgrounds that is open year round so It is perfect for early spring or late fall when most of the other sites are closed. We stayed for four nights, at $25 per night, which was very close and convenient to town - less than a few minutes. With 56 camp sites, 35 sites are suitable for Rv's No hook ups and pit toilets. Lots of walking paths as usual for a state park. But they were unbearable and we had a couple stings, so we rushed to pack up and left early, which was very disappointing and felt like a waste. 10 of these sites are 20 feet from the Pemigewasset River. There were vault ones near our site, but I preferred to walk a bit further to the flush ones.
